Travel Medicines & Advice
Going abroad on holiday or business?
Contact your local Murrays Healthcare pharmacy for advice on whether you’re entering a Malarial Zone or not (at Murrays, our records are kept regularly up-to-date). One souvenir of your trip you don't want to bring back is malaria, following a bite from an infected Mosquito!
Get advice on the type of medication recommended as anti-malarial. Most can be bought at your local pharmacy, though some may require a visit to your doctor.
Most anti-malarial medicines need to be started up to a week before your trip – so make sure you leave plenty of time and don't forget to discuss with your pharmacist the potential side-effects, particularly if you take regular medication.
Take positive action before you travel and look at the best ways to stop being bitten in the first place by an infected Mosquito. Sprays and creams can be especially useful in turning the Mosquito’s unwelcome attentions away from you!
We are also able to advise you on travel vaccines that you may require for travelling to those foreign locations. You will need a prescription from your GP so please allow plenty of time for these and we will be able to dispense them for you.
