New Medicines Service
Fact: 50% of patients do not take their medication as intended or take their medication at all. We at Murrays provide this New Medicines Service at the pharmacies below.
Often this is because the medicines prescribed have unpleasant side-effects, or the patient does not understand how to take it. It is often in the first few days/weeks of taking that medicine that the patient decides whether or not they are going to take their medicine regularly and as prescribed.
This is where the New Medicines Service comes in.
When you have a new medicine prescribed for you, the Pharmacist may ask you if you would like to be engaged in this service.
It’s very simple- twice in the first 28 days of you beginning your new medicine, we will contact you by telephone (or you can come into the pharmacy) to have a quick chat about how you are doing with your medicine.
We will check that you are not suffering any ill-effects, that you are taking or using it as intended and offering solutions to any problems that you may have with it.
This is an NHS service delivered to you free of charge, and it aims to support you through your first month on your new medicine.
